Thought I'd go for a run today

Finished my last exam for the semester this morning. This had me in such a good mood I decided to go running even though it feels like -21 out there.

...What was I thinking?
Over the past month, I haven't been running very much at all. Easily sauntered along for five miles though today. I felt like I was part Kenyan. Time on the bike is starting to pay off.

I've been seeing this a lot lately..

This little magnet knows me all too well. It's stuck right by the handle of our fridge... gets me every time. My stomach has become a bottomless pit with all of this cycling. Glad I'm not footing the bill for groceries around here.

Back to the Grind

After three days of school cancellations due to snow, classes resumed at CHSS. Took this as an opportunity to model an original Bike7650 T-shirt!

Deep Freeze

London shut down, including the stationary bikes in the gym. And by split decision, an outdoor ride has been ruled out. No need to practice for the rocky mountains yet!

Bike Trainer Woes

Riding a bike outside is great. Unfortunately, our weather forecast has looked like this a lot lately:

My flimsy little road bike wouldn't even make it out of the lane way. This means most of my training will be confined to a bike trainer until spring. At some point in your life, you've probably been on a stationary bike before. You've probably also come to the realization that biking indoors about as exciting as watching paint dry. You hop on feeling motivated, pedal for what seems like an eternity, and then look at the clock. Four minutes down. Good, only.. 1 hour and 56 minutes left?!

I have yet to come up with a solution to make time on a bike trainer, currently around 14 hours/ week, fly by. Most of the time I just stare down the clock. The rest of the time I just think about more interesting things I could be doing... like rolling pennies, or organizing pots and pans. Considering I have nil experience in cycling though, I definitely need to be putting in time on the bike now. Even if I'd rather watch grass grow. When the roads are dicey for cars let alone bikes, training indoors is the only option. Spring really can't come soon enough.

Sponsor a City

In order to meet our fundraising goal of $7650 for Jumpstart, we're looking for people interested in sponsoring each leg of our journey. We would like to connect your name, business, or group to one of the cities we will be stopping in. Pick your favourite city, where your from, or whatever. Choose a small city for $150, or a major city for $300. Filling up all these spots will exceed our fundraising goal and 100% of the proceeds will go towards financing kids sports in our community! Visit our 'Donate' page for the full list of cities we will be stopping in as well as a link for online donations. Thanks for your support!
