Update on City Sponsors

Over the past few weeks our list of cities to be sponsored has filled up quickly! As of today all of the cities we will be stopping in have been claimed. A full list of cities and sponsors can be seen on our donation page. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored a city along the way!

Highlight of the Week

This past Friday I was biking home along Winthrop Road. About 15 km from home I noticed a pick up truck parked on the side of the road. I slowed down a bit but didn't think too much of it. As I was going by the truck I saw two people standing beside it so I waved, and I was about to keep on going until I heard them shout my name? Stopped quickly. Turns out it was Barb and Ray Storey. They'd seen me bike by their house and wanted to make a donation to our trip. So there they were, standing on the side of Winthrop Road waiting for me. Only in Huron County. I hadn't seen them since my chinchilla club days so it was nice to catch up. The support so far from the community has surprised me but I can't believe it has gotten to the point where I am collecting donations on the side of the road. It was so sweet and unexpected, I was smiling all the way home. Thank you Ray and Barb!

Aye!

Our goal is to raise $7650 for Jumpstart. As of this morning we're at... $7777?!

And we're still three weeks away from starting the trip. This is great.

Outdoor Debut

After three months of training indoors, I was finally able to ride outside today. Hallelujah!

Although it still feels like -5, I was snug as a bug in two pairs of gloves, two long sleeve shirts, a sweater, coat, cycling shorts, two pairs of tights, and a balaclava for good measure. Spring eh.
Only downer was that the remaining snow drifts had me flopping like a salmon all over the road praying to stay upright. It's a good thing traffic is pretty minimal on Winthrop Road. Definitely looking forward to escaping the trainer more often in the upcoming weeks.

RV, check.

Eight years ago the Fleming family went on a week long trip to Nova Scotia. We thought we'd be one of those happy families travelling in an RV, holding hands, singing kumbaya as we traveled the east coast...

This picture was taken on day 6. That would be our rented RV in the Holiday Inn parking lot. We aren't campers to say the least.
Since then we haven't touched an RV with a ten foot pole... Until now.
The Fleming family is now the proud owners of an RV! Who would've thought.
Until we leave for the trip, it's a nice lawn ornament.
